Well-Versed Chef Finds Home at Bugaboo Creek in Dedham

Sara Grzesik has worked all over the country in the restaurant business, but has made Bugaboo Creek in Dedham her home for quite some time now.

Bugaboo Creek in Dedham is not your average steak house. Don't believe us? Take one step in to its Canadian Lodge-style dining room and see for yourself.  It offers a unique dining experience that general manager Sara Grzesik thinks makes it stand out from the rest.

"I think it's a unique dining experience. The décor of the restaurant, the talking animals, the stuff that's on the wall," says Grzesik.

Grzesik has been at Bugaboo for eight years, but has worked in restaurants all over the country, getting a taste of just about every job the restaurant business has to offer.

"I started out as a server. I did hosting, I did cooking, I did bartending, and eventually management," says Grzesik.

The food industry has been a part of her career since her teenage years.

"I used to work in a small restaurant, and then got bored waiting tables, so I got trained in the kitchen and I've done it ever since," says Grzesik.

While attending college, she studied sociology, but still worked part-time.

"I went to UNH in Durham and worked in a restaurant the entire time, and it just seemed natural to continue," says Grzesik.

"[Sociology] is very broad. It's like a human services thing. A little too broad for me," says Grzesik.

She much prefers the energetic work atmosphere that comes with working in a restaurant.

"Its always busy, you're always doing stuff. It can get really fun," says Grzesik.

Although she's the manager, she's currently working double-duty as the head chef until the new chef is fully trained to prepare their wide variety of foods on their frequently changing menu that stays true to its roots.

"Every quarter we come out with new promotions, so its always changing, it's always different, but it kind of always stays within that lodge theme," says Grzesik.

Below, Sara has offered to share one of Bugaboo's signature drinks.

Moose Juice

Pineapple-infused Ketal One vodka.

Slice up pineapple octagons. Put in a 5-gallon jug. Fill with Ketal One vodka. Let sit and marinade. Drain and press. Drink straight or use in cocktails.
