Weymouth Man Tried To Blame Girlfriend For Drunken Crash: Cops

WEYMOUTH, MA — A Weymouth man charged with crashing his vehicle while drunk tried to blame his girlfriend for the incident, police said.
Robert Welch, 54, was arrested and charged with his third-offense drunken driving, driving to endanger and leaving the scene of a crash causing injury, according to the Patriot Ledger.
Welch was taken into custody following a search for a GMC truck that allegedly crashed into a car on Sea Street and drove away. When offices found a damaged truck at Welsh's home, the Weymouth man said his girlfriend was driving at the time of the crash, according to police. He denied consuming alcohol.

Welsh was scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District Court Monday.
