ā¢ Deerfield voters to consider ADU bylaw changes at fall Special Town Meeting (recorder.com) ā Deerfield residents will vote this fall on significant updates to the townās accessory dwelling unit (ADU) bylaw, including new size limits, parking rules, and a ban on short-term ADU rentals under 30 days. The proposal would allow more ADUs by right, adjust special permit thresholds, and require permanent foundations, which planners say is a modest but important step toward easing local housing pressures.

ā¢ Colrain latest to consider kratom ban (recorder.com) ā Colrainās Board of Health is weighing a townwide ban on kratom products, following recent moves by Greenfield and Northampton and amid a proposed statewide crackdown on synthetic kratom. Deerfield is among several Franklin County and North Quabbin communities also exploring local restrictions, as health officials warn about addiction risks and push for consistent regional rules.
