• Bulletin Board: Berkshire Highlands Pentathlon crowns champions (recorder.com) — Deerfield gets a shout-out in the Berkshire Highlands Pentathlon, where the Thunder Beasts team featuring a Deerfield member placed second in the U-19 division, and Deerfield Academy teams had a strong day on April 18. Girls and boys lacrosse, softball, and boys tennis all notched wins, while baseball split a doubleheader and girls tennis fell in a close match. 
• Area farmers believe peach crops ‘dodged a bullet' in overnight frost (recorder.com) — Peach trees at Clarkdale Fruit Farms in Deerfield appear to have largely survived this week’s hard frost, though farmers say it’s too early to know the full impact. Growers in Deerfield, Montague, Granby and Whately describe the cold as a “thinning frost,” crediting fans and other protections while warning that increasingly erratic weather is making local fruit production more precarious.
