BABY STEPS DSGS WINS IN MILLIS TODAY 1-0!

Millis HS was the setting.  The opposing team heads out to the field at 2:30 for a 3:30 kick-off.  Right away, the Millis girls soccer team means business.  Going into the match, Millis wants a win.  They have a TVL record of 6-1-0.  DSGS is a team they need to beat today! DS Varsity arrives around 3 PM and they have a full half hour to get it all in.  Girls heading to the field, "this is going to be a tough game."  DS has a record 5-2-0.  The past two games DSGS recorded two back to back losses and its time to get the momentum back.  

In net for DS, (JR) #10 Meghan Hall.  She is in net for the full 80 minutes.  Meghan collected 7 saves in todays nail biter.  After the first half, scoreless, 0-0.  Coach Dave Wainwright made some positional changes in the beginning of the game and the girls momentum was working.  Neither team could put it in the back of the net.  Millis GK #24 JR Amy Assad in the first half made two stellar saves which increased the frustration for DS.  The girls played with poise and vision.  They did not panic and towards the end of the game with 6 minutes and 26 seconds remaining, *SR C Jackie Goudreault sends a shot off and rebounded off the Millis goalie #20 Erin Collins and rebounded for #19 (JR) Nell Green to finish and put DS on the score board.  The crowds went wild as both sides were determined to keep the pace steady.  DS was able to dominate the possession most of the second half for the win today.  Both teams finished after todays match with a TVL record of 6-2-0.

Coach Wainwright still has a lot of work to do.  With ten matches left in the season, DSGS has a vision and a goal and there is no letting up! Notable and commendable play today goes to Defenders Sarah Tanner, Izzy Parizeau, Graydon Wood and Maria Heines who all stepped up huge. Two players with first Varsity appearances today were (FR)Ali Scatchard and (FR)Brooke Daly- who saw minutes in Millis.
