Join us in celebrating AAPI Heritage Month with a cooking class series focused on regional Asian cuisines and their culinary traditions. Each class will highlight a different region and introduce new flavors and techniques.
Experience the vibrant flavors and bold contrasts that make Thai cuisine a worldwide favorite. In this hands-on cooking class, Chef Thi will guide you on a culinary exploration of the delicate balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy as you create farm vegetable panang curry with rich, creamy coconut sauce, tofu larb with fresh herbs and zesty lime, and the classic chicken pad thai with tender noodles, crunchy peanuts, and a hint of tamarind tang.
Throughout the class, you’ll learn to layer flavors, work with aromatic Southeast Asian spices, and master the techniques behind every dish.

Explore the bold flavors of Chinese cuisine in this hands-on cooking class using simple, pantry-friendly ingredients and accessible equipment. Chef Thi will show you how to craft Hong Kong-style char siu pork, garlicky greens, and Yu Xiang eggplant in Szechuan sauce, bursting with fragrant spices and a perfect balance of heat and sweetness.
By the end of class, you’ll be ready to recreate these authentic, restaurant-quality Chinese dishes in your own home.

Chinese Classics – Adult Cooking Class

Bird is the word! Join us at historic Powisset Farm for a Nest Box Workshop! During this guided, hands-on workshop, participants will make their own nest boxes and learn about the importance of nest boxes to ornithological work. Participants will build Eastern Bluebird nest boxes on site, which they can bring home and install in their own backyard.
During the breeding season, nest boxes provide secure housing for birds to build nests and care for their young. These boxes provide a critical alternative for birds who lack proper space to nest due to land development. The Trustees have installed boxes at several locations to support species such as the Eastern Bluebird, whose numbers have steadily increased since the widespread implementation of nest boxes. Volunteers and citizen scientists alike use Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s NestWatch Program to monitor life outcomes of nesting birds throughout the nation.
No prior experience is required for this workshop. All materials will be provided. This program is recommended for ages 12 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please keep in mind that we will be working with several large power tools and carpentry equipment, including drills, hammers, and screwdrivers. Long pants and close-toed shoes are strongly encouraged.
This program is in partnership with <a href="https://terracorps.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">TerraCorps</a> and will be lead by a TerraCorps volunteer.

The June heat isn’t the only thing sizzling this summer! Experience the art of wood-fired pizza in this hands-on adult cooking class as you learn the fundamentals of crafting great pizza using farm-fresh ingredients.
Chef Thi will teach you the essential techniques, including dough handling, topping balance, and timing in a wood-fired oven to achieve the perfect pie. We’ll work together as a class to prepare a variety of pizzas and enjoy them fresh from the oven in a relaxed, outdoor setting.
