A Community of Its Own
The development, Meadow's Edge in Sherborn offers thoughtfully-designed homes and a strong sense of community

Whether you’re married or single, with kids or without, 25 or 65, community has become one of the most important elements in the home buying process. Why? Well, it affects your day-to-day life both in and outside your home. Are you happy to walk across the street? Are there places to walk your dog nearby that make your day-to-day life easier and fuller? Do you have good neighbors who can grab your mail while you’re away? Is there a quality school nearby, or will you have to drive through 45 minutes of traffic? All of these questions center around one larger theme: community. My business partner Ted and I recently learned the value of a strong community, but it has been quite a learning process.
We started building Meadow’s Edge at Whitney Farm with a straightforward plan… We simply wanted to put our combined 70+ years of experience to create beautiful, affordable homes, in a town we both admired and enjoyed. However, as we continued building, we kept hearing one bit of feedback: Sherborn values COMMUNITY. The town of Sherborn itself is a wonderful community in itself – it has the picturesque streetlamps, quaint town center, and top public school that come to mind when you first imagine “community.” But in most places throughout the area, it’s not easy to simply walk over to a neighbor’s house, grab a cup of coffee, and then walk along a nearby trail, all without getting in a car. There isn’t currently a convenient, planned neighborhood where Sherborn residents can live, interact, and share common space.
Well, I should say “there wasn’t.” As soon as we realized the value that a thoughtful, community-oriented space would bring to a town like Sherborn, we worked to create that. We reworked our plans, and began adding elements like a multi-purpose field, a fire-pit, community gardens, and a nature trail that would lead to the Upper Charles Trail. We added eco-friendly features to each home, and added details that made the homes feel warm, with a rich sense of character. We built what we feel is an open and spacious, yet tight-knit, walkable space that will foster a sense of the quintessential “old-time, grab-a-cup-of-sugar neighborhood” for all those who join. Our hope is that as the development continues to fill up, we’ll also be able to begin community programming.

This has been a journey for us, but we believe that this journey, fueled by the feedback provided by residents of Sherborn and beyond, has led us to create one of the most spacious, exciting, and community-friendly places in one of the best school systems in the state. We are absolutely thrilled to begin building up this community, and hope to hear that our current and future residents feel the same.
