Dover Secures $260,000 Grant To Advance Rail Trail Project

A state grant will help move plans forward for a 3.5-mile recreational trail connecting Dover with neighboring communities.

DOVER, MA — A new outdoor adventure could be on the horizon for Dover residents as the town moves closer to developing a multiuse rail trail.

Dover recently received a $260,000 state grant to advance the final design phase of its proposed Dover Rail Trail project. The plan would transform an existing railroad corridor into a 3.5-mile path stretching from the Medfield town line to the Needham town line.

The final design phase is expected to be completed by summer 2027. Afterward, the proposal will go before a future Town Meeting for a community vote.
