Human Trafficking Survivor to Speak at Dover Town Library

"Collapsing This Hushed House: My Escape from Child Sex Trafficking" lecture, 3/23 @ 7pm

Dover Town Library is hosting a lecture, Collapsing This Hushed House: My Escape from Child Sex Trafficking, at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23.

Kate Price is a survivor of child commercial sexual exploitation, specifically child sex trafficking and pornography. To support his drug addiction, Price’s exploiter sold her for sex from childhood until early adolescence at backyard parties, child pornography ring events, and truck stops. Additionally, she survived sexual abuse by multiple members of her parents’ families. Bruises went unquestioned by neighbors, teachers, and coaches. Family members blamed her for her own abuse. Armed only with a fierce belief in herself, Price eventually ran away on a Greyhound bus, beginning her extraction from her hometown and family. A story of unparalleled grit, resilience, and determination, Price’s life is filled with moments of heart wrenching survival and tender perseverance. Her journey sheds light on the complex crisis of commercial sexual exploitation of children and provides hope for healing. A graduate of Lesley University in Cambridge, MA and Simmons College in Boston, MA, Price is a program associate at the Wellesley Centers for Women at Wellesley College. She also recently began working toward her Ph.D. in Sociology at University of Massachusetts Boston.

Event is free and open to the public.
