Natick and Sherborn Awarded FY18 S.A.F.E. Grants

Rep. Linsky announced that the towns of Natick and Sherborn have been awarded S.A.F.E. grant funds.

Boston- Representative David Linsky (D-Natick) announced today that Governor Charles Baker and Secretary of Public Safety and Security Daniel Bennett have awarded grant funds for the Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E.) Program and the Senior S.A.F.E. Program. The town of Natick was awarded $8,220 and the town of Sherborn was awarded $4,923 for FY18.

"S.A.F.E. is a vital program that has proven its effectivity," said Representative Linsky. "Teaching citizens of the Commonwealth about fire safety and prevention is very important, and I commend the Natick and Sherborn Fire Departments for their dedication to this program."

Since the creation of The S.A.F.E. Program, the average annual child fire deaths have been reduced by 72%. The S.A.F.E. Program provides resources to fire departments across the Commonwealth to promote fire safety education for students in grades K-12, and Senior S.A.F.E. works with seniors on fire prevention, general home safety, and how to be better prepared in the event of a fire.
