Representative Linsky Announces Various Grants Awarded to Towns in the Fifth Middlesex District

Representative Linsky announced today that various grants have been awarded to the Fifth Middlesex District.

BOSTON - Representative David Linsky (D-Natick) announced today that various grants have been awarded to the Fifth Middlesex District. Two businesses in Natick - Dacon Corporation and Landry's Inc. - were awarded grants through the Workforce Training Fund General Program; and, the Town of Sherborn was awarded a grant through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.

The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) awarded Dacon Corporation and Landry's Inc., both located in Natick, grants through the Workforce Training Fund General Program, an initiative that helps address productivity and competitiveness by providing resources to invest in the Commonwealth's workforce, improve employee skills, and maintain the economic strength and viability of the Commonwealth's businesses. A grant of $40,300 was awarded to the Dacon Corporation to train 38 workers and anticipate adding 3 additional jobs by 2019, while Landry's Inc. received a grant of $73,900 to train 40 workers and anticipate adding 4 additional jobs by 2019.

"The Workforce Training Fund Program is a great program which helps businesses in the Commonwealth," said Representative Linsky. "I am glad that businesses in our community are taking advantage of these training and career-building skills."

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) announced that the Commonwealth's anticipation for federal assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)'s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) was approved, including $12,000 in grant funds for the Town of Sherborn. Hazard mitigation is any sustained action taken to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from natural hazards and their efforts. The grant will aid Sherborn in making the community more resilient to impacts from natural hazard events.

"Hazard mitigation is a very important initiative, and I am glad that Sherborn has received this grant to assist our community in reacting to emergency situations," said Representative Linsky.
