Residents Recognized by Catholic School Foundation

Two locals were honored by the Catholic Schools Foundation for their long-time involvement.

Dover resident Stephen Birmingham and Sherborn resident Henry Murphy received the first ever Founders Award at the School’s Out Summer Celebration in June.

Both Birmingham and Murphy have contributed to the Catholic Schools Foundation (CSF) for over twenty years.

The CSF provides opportunities for children to receive a Catholic school education in the Archdiocese of Boston area.

“Stephen and Hank’s commitment to the Inner-City Scholarship Fund and the students we serve is an inspiration to professionals looking to get involved and who want to make a difference in our schools,” said Michael Reardon, executive director of CSF.

In 1995, Birmingham and Murphy co-founded the Inner-City Scholarship Fund Professionals’ Team, which gives business professionals opportunities volunteer with the CSF and serve as mentors to the students.

The Inner-City Scholarship Fund, CSF’s signature program, offers partial scholarships to children in need to attend Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Boston.

ICSF Professionals volunteer by tutoring the students, speaking to the students and informing the students about various career opportunities, according to Volunteer Match

When they aren’t working with CSF, Murphy is an attorney at Fidelity Investment and Birmingham is an Executive Vice President at Taylor Investment Counselors.

Birmingham is a previous member of the CSF Board of Trustees and met his wife at an ICSF event.
