Stuff You Never Knew You Could Get At The Library: Part One

Welcome to our very first Blog post! Now that summer is winding down and folks are getting ready for a new school year, it seems like a good opportunity to tell you about some wonderful stuff we offer here at the Dover Town Library.

First up in our discussion of cool library offerings are online databases that you can (mostly) access from home with your library card.

We offer Consumer Reports Magazine in the library, but you can also access all of the information at ConsumerReports.org from home, at no charge.

Are you looking for something good to watch? Maybe something not so mainstream or something a little different? Check out Indieflix! You have access to over 4000 independent films from your home. Browse by category or view films from all of the major film festivals from all over the  world. We think this particular database is pretty wonderful!

Atomic Training is another great resource you can access from home. If you need to brush up on your Excel skills, want to learn Photoshop or you're thinking about joining Twitter then log in to Atomic Training and start learning.

E-Prep sllows students to prep  for the SATs, SSATs, ACTs, PSAT and PLAN, all from home. You do have to come into the library to sign up initially, but after that you can sign in from anywhere. We have gotten some really positive feedback from students who have been using the SAT prep portion!

This brings us to our newest database, Ancestry.com. We are very excited to offer this database for use in the library. Whether you are just getting started or have been researching for awhile, you will have access to millions of records from all over the world.

We hope you are as excited as we are by these really great databases! Feel free to call or stop in and speak to a staff person if you have any questions.

All of the links for the databases can be accessed through our website dovertownlibrary.org. If you haven't seen our new site yet, check it out, it's beautiful!  You can also "Like" us on Facebook for pictures, announcements and other fun stuff!
