Vanna Howard, who has just been honored as The Arc of Massachusetts’ 2026 Legislator of the Year for her autism and disability advocacy. Her work on funding, commissions, and community events shapes services and resources available to disabled residents across Lowell, Dracut, and neighboring towns. 
• School custodians defeat privatization plan, save union jobs in MA community (afscme.org) — Dracut school custodians just won a major victory, as the Dracut School Committee unanimously rejected a plan to privatize custodial services and preserved up to 22 union jobs. After months of organizing, petitioning, and speaking at meetings, AFSCME Local 1404 members convinced residents and officials that keeping in-house staff best serves Dracut’s schools and taxpayers.
