The Olivian
Bid adieu to the glories of sports: the joy and the suffering, the bumps and the bruises, the orange, the black, and the white. Preserve and cherish these moments, suspended in time, and capitalize on the most insightful sentiment that “this is it.” Fight in the name of your school for the last time on the hallowed hardwood or under the lights on the battlefield we call our turf. Seize the sensation of senior superstardom before it departs in the blink of an eye, for this show cannot go on forever. Bask in the rivers of sweat poured over four years of bonding and fighting. Treasure the final heartbeats of an athletic pulse that will soon come to an end here at Oliver Ames. Experience the goosebumps of triumph, the butterflies of competition, and the sheer euphoria of victory for one last season before the cruel curtain call. The last march of the seniors here at Oliver Ames ends sooner rather than later, so tie the laces tight, buckle the chinstraps, wrap the athletic tape for one last go-round before the ride comes to a screeching halt. Some ends will be bitter, some will be glorious; nonetheless, think of the endless labor. Consider the feeling of being a wide-eyed freshman committing, yourself to being a Tiger, regardless of the sport. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the determination of a youthful spirit than in Oliver Ames athletics. Every senior will move on with nothing but a lifetime’s worth of memories etched in orange and black, but for now, this is where we make our stand. A group of Tiger athletes step into the athletic afterlife as one. Stop and appreciate the little things that make being an athlete at Oliver Ames worth the four years of commitment, because what we accomplish here in our senior year stays with us… forever.
