Tomorrow, Thursday – September 6th, is the state Primary election. I am urging all registered voters (Democrat, Unenrolled/Independent, Republican) to go to the polls between the hours of 7:00am and 8:00pm and cast your vote. Our country has been built upon the principles of Democracy, and voting gives you a voice.
This Primary election is vital to the future of our Community and our Commonwealth. This election is not an Easton vs. Brockton or Brockton vs. Easton election. It is about electing the right person to serve as YOUR voice on Beacon Hill. I am the candidate who has the proven experience, leadership, and dedication.

I am a candidate for State Representative, serving the 11th Plymouth District, and the residents of Easton and Brockton. For the past six (6) months, I have been campaigning in the District and talking to concerned residents. I have enjoyed the time spent meeting new people, talking about the issues, and explaining why I believe that I am the best Democratic candidate in the race.
DOES EXPERIENCE AND LEADERSHIP MATTER?
Relevant experience and leadership are real factors to consider when contemplating voting to elect someone to serve you in the serious position of a State Representative. There is no learning-curve on Beacon Hill. You must be a strong advocate and work in collaboration with other elected officials in order to create benefits for the District. Electing an experienced and proven leader is key to our economic recovery. I believe that my experience as a City Councilor for 7 years, coupled with my Town experience as a town attorney (Randolph, MA), allows me to offer a perspective that no other candidate brings to the table. In addition, I have State house experience from having worked at the State House as Chief Legal Counsel to a Joint Committee. I possess the necessary experience to go to the State House and “hit the ground” running on day one to make a real difference and create beneficial opportunities for ALL residents of the 11th Plymouth District.
WHY IS TOMORROW’S PRIMARY ELECTION IMPORTANT?
Tomorrow’s election is important because a priority issue for our Commonwealth is our current economic situation and how to improve it. In our District, elected officials must work to foster increased economic growth so that our tax base will be enhanced. Once we straighten out the financial situation, then a trickle-down effect will occur and there will be funding available to meet the needs and desires of ALL residents.
Tomorrow’s election is about selecting a State Representative candidate who will work to maintain jobs and create jobs. I have municipal finance experience (I have conducted 7 city budget hearings of over $365 million dollars) and run my own small business law practice. I understand fiscal responsibility and job growth endeavors.
Tomorrow’s election is about selecting a State Representative who will make sure that the District is getting its fair share under the funding formula, so that our Chapter 90 and Chapter 70 funds can be increased to better the District and make sure that we have the proper staffing in our schools and public safety departments.
WHAT DOES YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE NEED TO DO?
Your next State Representative needs to make sure and that our Senior Citizens, Retirees, and Veterans are protected;
Your next State Representative needs to make sure that we get money for our public schools;
Your next State Representative needs to make sure that we get money to properly staff and equip our Public Safety departments;
Your next State Representative needs to make sure that we get money to make sure that our roads are properly maintained and/or repaired;
Your next State Representative needs to make sure that the rising health care costs are modified and brought into line (i.e. single-payer system); and
Your next State Representative needs to look into pension reform and have stricter policies adopted so that there is not a bilking of the system.
DOES YOUR VOTE MATTER?
I am the only candidate who has already run for a seat in the State House of Representatives. In 2008, I ran for the open-seat in the 9th Plymouth District and lost in the Democratic Primary by a mere 13 votes. That campaign four years ago taught me a few valuable lessons that I wanted to share with you in this blog posting.
First, after that 2008 Primary election many people told me that they did not, for one reason or another, go to vote in the September Primary but that they would vote for me in November! This helped me to realize that when it comes to Primary elections, some voters do not realize how important their vote is!
Please be aware that only one (1) candidate (from each party) can win Tomorrow, THURSDAY September 6th. If you do not go to the polls tomorrow to vote, then your candidate of choice runs the risk of losing, and you will not have the opportunity to vote for that person in November.
So, I am asking any and all of my District supporters to please go to the polls tomorrow and vote. I want to win the Primary and head into the November general election. I want to work with you and for you as the new voice and new leader for our new 11th Plymouth District. You deserve to have an experienced and dedicated State Representative who is running for office to serve the public. I hope that I am elected to serve, as I will do so with passion to better our community.
Secondly, I learned after losing in 2008 that the saying “EVERY VOTE MATTERS..EVERY VOTE COUNTS”…is 100% true.
Thus, I respectfully ask that you and your family/friends please go to the polls Tomorrow - Thursday September 6th and vote ROBERT SULLIVAN for State Representative. Thank you.
-Bob
