Fishing Fest:. On Sunday, May 26, 9 a.m. to Noon. Join the Friends of Borderland for their annual Fishing Festival on Lower Leach Pond! Bring your own pole or borrow one of ours! For all ages. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes will be awarded to kids!  Reasonable accommodations available upon advance request. $2 per car parking fee. Meet at The Lodge. Rain or shine.

 

Walking Club Walk: On Sunday May 26, 2013 from 1:00 to 2:30pm, Join DCR’s Southeast Massachusetts Adult Walking Club meets most weekends for a walk in a DCR state park.  While most hikes take place in the Blue Hills State Reservation, others are held in various state parks in Southeastern Massachusetts.  On Saturday, May 26th join the Walking Club on the 3-mile Pond Loop Trail for a great spring walk at Borderland State Park.  Bring water and wear sturdy shoes.  For adults. Garden Tour: Restoration in Progress. Monday May 27, 2013 from 2:00 to 2:30pm.  Join the Park Interpreter for a half-hour outdoor tour of the Ames Mansion gardens. For adults and older children. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Reasonable accommodations available upon advance request. $2 per car parking fee. Meet in front of mansion. Rain cancels.

 

The Long Hike. Friday May 31, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00pm. Hike to the hardly visited northern-most point of Borderland State Park on this 5- to 6-mile, moderately paced recreational hike. We’ll hike to Morse Loop and enjoy a snack on the shores of the beautiful and peaceful Dead Swamp Pond. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water and bug repellent, as well as a snack to eat at the pond. For adults and older children. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Reasonable accommodations available upon advance request. $2 per car parking fee. Meet at Visitor Center. Rain cancels.

 

Pond Walk: Wednesday June 12, 19 and 26 from 5:00pm to 6:00 p.m. Join the Park Interpreter for an hour stroll along the designated Healthy Heart Trail, which goes around Lower Leach Pond.  The Healthy Heart Trail is an initiative to connect us with nature while enjoying the health benefits of walking. Off The Beaten Path Hike. Friday June 7, 2013 from 1p.m. to 2:30p.m..  Explore the trails less traveled on this 3- to 4-mile informative and recreational hike. Route and theme varies weekly. Dress for the weather, bring water, and wear bug repellent. Hike is easy to moderate in difficulty. For adults and older children. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Reasonable accommodations available upon advance request. $2 per car parking fee. Meet at the Visitor Center. Downpour cancels.

Patio Concert:   On Saturday June 8, 2013 at 2:00pm, join the Friends of Borderland as they present the first patio concert of the season.  The Dixie Diehards will be performing some old school jazz tunes, so grab your lawn chair and join us for this wonderful free concert. Explore Nature: Geology Hike: On Sunday June 9 from 2:00-3:00pm, join us for an easy to moderate hike to see some boulders, and together we will learn how these boulders got where they are today.  Along the way we will see some old stone walls, so lets use our detective skills and figure out why there are stone walls in the middle of the woods.  For children and curious adults; all children must be accompanied by an adult.   Meet in front of the Visitor Center. Kidleidoscope!: The popular preschool program Kidleidoscope returns to Borderland! On Monday June 10, 2013 from noon to 1:00pm, join the park interpreter for a story, nature walk and a craft. Each month there will be an overall theme to this kids program; June’s theme is Plants.  All children must be accompanied by an adult. Rain or Shine.

Friends of Borderland: Mansion Tour:  On Sunday June 23, 2013 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, discover the history of the Ames Mansion while supporting Friends of Borderland State Park! Volunteer guides conduct tours of the stately home of Oakes and Blanche Ames. Tours run about every 20 minutes. For all ages. Donations are accepted and will benefit the Friends of Borderland. Meet in front of mansion. Sponsored by Friends of Borderland. Rain or shine.

 

Movie at the Mansion: The Great Gatbsy: Movie night at the Mansion is back!  Join us on Sunday June 23rd  at 6:00pm to watch the classic family film “The Great Gatsby”. The Friends of Borderland and the park staff will be transforming the library into an old fashion movie theater.  Space is limited call Paul or Ellenor to reserve your seat at 508-238-6566.  Rain or Shine!  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Food and Snack will be available for a small donation.

Explore Nature: Trees!: Sunday June 30, 2013 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.  Join us for a summer leaf walk and discover that all leaves have unique features. Participate in a leaf scavenger hunt and make a leaf rubbing to take home. For children and curious adults; all children must be accompanied by an adult.   Meet in front of the Visitor Center.  Rain cancels.

Tennis on the Ames Mansion Court.  Daily, 8 a.m. to Close.  Play tennis on the Ames Mansion court on the back lawn of the Ames Mansion. Bring your own equipment. Park at the Visitor Center, walk to the mansion. Proceed to the right of the mansion and follow the curve of the mansion to the courts.  First come, first serve. Free - just come and play! $2 per car parking fee.

Borderland State Park is located off Massapoag Avenue on the Easton/Sharon line.  There is a parking fee of $2 per car payable at the yellow machine. Those individuals over the age of 62 should visit the office in the Visitor Center for a free lifetime parking pass.
