Good Samaritan Employee Raises Funds for Boston Victims

Primary care physician Dr. David Mudd, of Good Samaritan Medical Center, will be raising money for Boston’s “One Fund” this weekend.
Dr. Mudd will be participating in a 42-mile bike ride in New York City. The biking event, “The Five Boros NYC Bike Ride” has changed its title to “The Ride for Boston.” The fundraising dollars will support the “One Fund” that has been established to support the Boston Marathon Bombing victims.
This bike ride is America’s largest cycling event. About 32,000 participants bike through all five boroughs. The tour is co-produced by Bike New York and New York City Department of Transportation. Traditionally, the proceeds fund Bike New York’s education program which provides free bicycle education throughout New York City. The goal is to encourage cycling as a safe and sustainable means of transit and recreation.

This year, tour riders will have the opportunity to obtain “I Ride for Boston” stickers at Bike Expo New York on May 3 and 4, with a suggested contribution of five dollars. All proceeds will go to the One Fund Boston.
Steward Health Care has also decided to participate in the One Fund Boston, which was created by Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino to help those most affected by the tragedy.

To donate, colleagues can go to www.onefundboston.org and make donations online. Steward will match, dollar for dollar, the total amount our employees have donated, up to $100,000. After donating, colleagues are encouraged to send an email to onefund@steward.org containing the amount of the donation in order to match the amount.
We hope that all are motivated by Dr. Mudd’s generosity of time and dedication, and support him and the One Fund.
