If You Want The Easy Way Out, There Is the Door

The Cross Country Team had their annual pre season meeting today.  This is the last time I, as their coach, will have an opportunity to speak with them this summer.  The next time I see the team will be the first day of practice Thursday August 25.  This is what I left them with…..

When you are a member of this team

When you are a member of this family

You have a responsibility

I do not care if you are number one on the depth chart or number one hundred

The attitude you bring to practice every day

The attitude you bring to your life every day

The choices you make

Will determine who we are and what we become 

We have one goal this season, excellence 

Excellence will fill the trophy case in the hallway

Excellence will line the gym with banners

Excellence will achieve personal bests

Excellence will make your dreams realities

But Excellence will not come easy

There is a price to pay

Excellence takes integrity

Excellence takes commitment

Excellence takes hard work

Excellence takes sacrifice

Excellence takes perseverance

If you want the easy way out, there is the door

But if you want to be the best you can be

You make a commitment right here, right now, to us and this family

For we will tolerate nothing less
