Nannie's Oatmeal Cookies with Chocolate Chips and Raisins
An old-fashioned oatmeal cookie recipe that was doctored into a family favorite with chocolate chips, raisins and yes, some Wheaties!
When I started my food blog a few years ago, my very first post was my grandmother's oatmeal cookies. This is a very special recipe to me because I always loved baking with my grandmother when we would go to visit her. She would set us up at her little kitchen table and would keep us busy measuring the ingredients, mixing them by hand (and sometimes with our hands) and tasting the results when we were done.
What I loved about this recipe was that it was originally an oatmeal cookie recipe that was doctored into what it is today. As you read through the recipe, there are chocolate chips, raisins and Wheaties. You can imagine that when you ran out of raisins, you substituted chocolate chips. Not enough oatmeal, you added some cereal. In the end, she created this amazing oatmeal cookie that tastes like no other.
Everyone has that favorite recipe that someone special has made for them. It evokes special memories that are wonderful to share. I share this recipe with you as I begin my food blogging adventure with Patch.com
