OA Varsity Baseball Record Now 3-0
OA Varsity Baseball makes it a Hat Trick starting the season with 3 consecutive wins!
Winning a nailbiter over Stoughton today, the varsity baseball team brought their record to 3-0. Stoughton started the game with back to back singles and scored a run in the top of the first. However, David Mackinnon, who pitched the first 4 innings for OA, held Stoughton hitless after that and pitched out of two bases-loaded situations. Eddie Deveau came in to relieve MacKinnon and pitched the last 3 innings in his first varsity appearance, giving up just 4 hits and one run. Stoughton scored one more run in the top of the 7th.
The Stoughton pitcher, Mike Gallagher pitched 4 hitless innings, giving up just one unearned run. He stymied the OA offense until the 5th inning when OA got back to back singles. Greg Cummings broke up the no-hitter with a pinch-hit single and Drew Egger followed with a base hit scoring Cummings to take the lead 2-1. Egger scored on a dropped fly ball to make the score 3-2 which is how the game ended.
OA plays Waltham at Waltham Saturday in a non-league game at 2:00pm.
