Team Walsh Steamrolls to Senior Rec Championship

Coach Walsh has his team execute their game plan perfectly as the Blue team takes the Easton High School Rec Basketball Championship Wednesday night.

Ed Walsh and his crew of 8 players jumped out to a 24-2 lead in the first 8 minutes of play and kept the pedal down to win the 2013 Rec Basketball Championship title at a packed OA High School gym Wednesday night with a score of 52-38.

The brothers Mike and John McMillan got to play together again after joining forces in football last season and Joe Walsh and the rest of the crew fit in like brothers too as their alert play and great chemistry were tough to stop.

With three losses in the season Coach Walsh's team was a 4th seed coming into the playoffs but the expectations were high. Coach Walsh said he "just steered the ship and let the boys do all the work"! Well he certainly did more than just steer the ship as he coached like a pro constantly rotating the undermanned roster of players into the game like Doc Rivers working his bench without Rondo or Garnett as wave after wave of rested players continued to jump off his bench ready for action. The boys ran out of gas a little toward the end as Brian Brady and Brian Moroney of the "yellow" team pushed their players to look for a window to take down the "blue" team!

With 4 minutes remaining the scoring stalled slightly but Coach Walsh gave his team a spirited pep talk and they responded by pulling away to finish the game with a double-digit victory.

Special Thanks to Ed Walsh for donating his time to the kids and Scott Faust, Bill Gagliardi, Gerry Fleming and Mark Minsky for organizing another successful year of High School Rec basketball.
