The Accidental Farmer
Discover big things in small packages and tackle life's smaller questions - "one square foot at a time"...

Happy New Year!
The first week has come and gone - just as many New Year Resolutions have been fulfilled or broken. How did you fare? Personally, I'm counting myself a winner. I haven't lost any weight - but I'm eating better. I haven't managed to slow my pace - but I'm moving at a comfortable clip and I haven't worked out the kinks in my recycling plans but I'm happy with the progress.
The same attitude has spilled over into my garden. I haven't bought my seeds - but I love the plans. I never took my pots off my porch - but they don't seem to mind and I haven't edged my beds or split my favorites - but when the ground thaws I will be ready. That's right - this year I will not be running to catch up - I will be racing ahead!
Square Foot Blogging is meant to share the successes and failures of an accidental farmer who did not grow up entrenched in acres of agriculture - but finds endless amounts of enjoyment, education and sustainment can be grown one square foot at a time. I hope you will check in frequently - curious to know where my chickens wandered to last week, what recipes take best advantage of seasonal produce and which plants were so successful that I've decided to bank the seeds. I will share the excitement of experimenting with organic solutions and discovering why our trash is making such a mess on the other side of the world.
Have a great week - and get ready. Life is more fun when we share our experiences and the journey may be long - but we are sure to get somewhere - one step, and one square foot, at a time...
