FBI Raid at Easton Senator's Office

The FBI on Wednesday raided the offices of State Sen. Brian Joyce, who represents Easton, in regards to alleged financial improprieties.

CANTON, MA — FBI agents on Wednesday raided the Canton offices of State Sen. Brian Joyce, who represents Easton.

Joyce, a Democrat who lives in Milton, is the target of an investigation involving illegal financial activities, according to the Boston Globe. Those activities allegedly included using campaign funds to pay for a party for his son and receiving free dry-cleaning.

Joyce’s lawyer released a statement defending his client.

“Joyce’s remarkable disregard for the law is a byproduct of the Democratic culture of corruption on Beacon Hill, where abuse of power appears to be a fringe benefit,” state GOP chairman Kirsten Hughes said in a statement.

Last year, Joyce stepped down from his leadership position as the assistant majority leader after meeting with state insurance regulators on behalf of a private client.

Joyce is in the middle of his ninth term. He represents Avon, Canton, Milton, Randolph, Stoughton, West Bridgewater, and parts of Braintree, East Bridgewater, Sharon, and Easton.
