Creative Carver Set to Make Whimsical Art at Sheep Pasture Festival

Easton, MA-  Wherever he works, chainsaw carver Dave Conklin believes in reclaiming wood to make beautiful sculptures. From benches to statues, Conkin’s business is making old wood new again by using his unique style of creativity to make a totally changed and inspired piece. “I love bringing new life to discarded wood that would otherwise go unused,” Conklin said.

It’s this commitment to reusing wood that brought Conklin and the NRT together to team up for this year’s Spring Farm Festival in May. Each year the NRT works to bring new demonstrations to the event for visitors to enjoy, and Conklin’s whimsical style coupled with his interest in using reclaimed wood for his carvings made him a fabulous addition to the festival.  “Dave’s carvings are fun, creative, and distinctive,” says NRT executive director Jen Cummings. “We look forward to having him showcase his talents for our guests at the festival.”

Festival patrons will have many other things to do on site, including play games brought by the New England Revolution’s travel soccer team, meet farm animals, participate in environmentally friendly kids crafts, meet local vendors, and have lunch outside.  The Spring Farm Festival will be held rain or shine on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 10 am – 2pm at NRT’s Sheep Pasture, and people of all ages are welcome. Leashed pets may accompany their owners the day of the festival.  The entrance to the festival is at 261R Main Street, Easton, MA.
