Testimony Wraps Up In MA Mom Lindsay Clancy's Triple Murder Case

PLYMOUTH, MA — Testimony wrapped up in the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial and closing arguments are set for Thursday.

"The final witness was an FBI psychiatrist who said Clancy could still appreciate right from wrong and control her behavior when she killed her three children," a CNN story said of the testimony of Dr. Gregory Saathoff. "He pointed to her 'preparatory planning,' which included conducting searches on her phone, mapping the distance from their home to a restaurant, and then committing the killings in the timeframe when her husband was out of the home."

Clancy, 35, is charged with the January 2023 murders of 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan Clancy.

"Prosecutors have said that in January 2023, Clancy intentionally strangled the three children with fitness bands in their Massachusetts home before jumping out of a second-floor window," the BBC reported. "Clancy, now 36, was paralysed by the jump and has attended the trial in a wheelchair."

Clancy has admitted to killing her children but her attorney has tried to make the case that she is not criminally responsible because she was overmedicated and suffering from postpartum psychosis, according to CBS.

"If she is found guilty, Clancy faces life in prison without parole," ABC reported. "If found not criminally responsible for the three murder charges, she will be sent to a state mental health facility."
