Easton Police Officers Receive Medal Of Valor For Bravery
Three Easton police officers received the medal for bravery and meritorious service for their actions during a Dec. 2018 shooting.
EASTON, MA — Three Easton police officers who were involved in a shooting incident last December were presented with the Medal of Valor for bravery and meritorious action at the State House.
Chief Gary Sullivan nominated Officers David W. Lydon, Carlton A. Williamson and Nicholas M. Fields for the Trooper George L. Hanna Memorial Award for Bravery. Gov. Charlie Baker presented the officers with the awards on Oct. 18.
Police said officers responded to Bay Road last Dec. 16 around 2 p.m. after a woman said there was someone knocking on her door and there was a vehicle in her driveway. When police arrived, the man sped away, according to police.

After crashing into another car on Bay Road, police said a man got out of one of the SUVs with what police said appeared to be a handgun, pointing it at officers. Two officers fired at the man, striking him at least once. Police said the officers feared for their safety and the safety of those in the area.
"We are extremely proud of these officers for having been recognized with this honor," Easton police posted on their Facebook page. "They continue, along with all of our officers, to serve the Town of Easton admirably and professionally each day."
