Easton to Draft Letter Asking for Redistricting Consolidation

Selectmen agreed Monday night that the town needed consolidation among its state legislators.

The Board of Selectmen voted Monday night to draft a brief letter to its state legislators asking for consolidation in its districts when the state considers redistricting in the coming weeks.

"I think we're definitely diluted," Selectman Todd Gornstein said.

Selectmen Dan Murphy and Sean Noonan agreed, adding that Easton currently had "great representatives," but having less would be more beneficial. Selectwoman Ellen Barlow was not present at Monday's meeting to weigh in.

"This is an opportunity for us to have a louder voice," Murphy added.

Currently, Easton is represented in in the State's House of Representatives by Angelo D’Emilia (Precinct Six - Eighth Plymouth District), Christine Canavan (Precinct Three - 10th Plymouth District), and Geraldine Creedon (Precincts One, Two, Four, Five - 11th Plymouth District).

In the State Senate, Easton is currently represented by Brian A. Joyce (Precincts three, four, five and six - Norfolk, Bristol & Plymouth District) and Tom Kennedy (Precincts One, Two - Norfolk, Bristol & Plymouth District).
