Easton Voters Choose Fulginiti, Smith and Lynch, Sullivan

Residents voted in local elections and special senate primaries Tuesday.

Easton residents took to the polls Monday to take part in local elections and a state-wide Special Senate Election primary.

Town Clerk Jeremy Gillis said there was a voter turnout of approximately 2,700, unofficially.

Locally, Eastonites chose Dottie Fulginiti and Dan Smith to fill two vacant seats on the board of selectmen. The two candidates beat out Carol Nestler and Michael Maloney. According to unofficial numbers, Fulginiti received the most votes with 1,574. Smith received 1,231. Nestler followed with 960 and Maloney pulled in 778.

Easton residents chose Bill Anderson for the board of health over Robert MacLennan, 1218-810 unofficially.

Nestler, the finance committe chair who lost the selectmen race was not left in the dark. She received 37 write-in votes to re-join FinCom. Pat Goodman received 55 to fill another FinCom write-in spot.

Easton was off-the-mark with the rest of the state when it came to choosing Senate candidates. While Massachusetts as a whole chose Markey on the Democratic side and Gabriel Gomez on the Republican side, Democratic voters in the Shovel Town chose Lynch over Markey, 1055-749 unofficially and Republican voters chose Michael Sullivan with 408 votes. Gomez received 395 and Dan Winslow received 121 votes unofficially.
