Historical Commission Awarded $10,000 Grant for Historic Property Survey
Funding will replenish CPA funding used for the project.

The Easton Historical Commission was awarded a $10,000 state grant this week for the continued effort to conduct a survey of historic Easton neighborhoods.
"The project aims to compile information about historic sites and structures, and make records readily available to the public," Community Planner Timothy Harrigan said in a statement. "In the long-term, this information will assist owners of historic properties who undertake restoration and preservation projects."

Harrigan said the commission is working on a new phase. The first phase began in 2009 and covered the heart of North Easton Village. Now, a survey is being conducted in Furnace Village and neighborhoods off the northern part of Center Street, and will be complete later this year.
"Together, these two phases cover approximately 300 properties," Harrigan told Patch.

The state grant, awarded by the Massachusetts Historical Commission, will be used to replenish Community Preservation Funds, which are being used for the current phases.
"The effort is being paid for with a CPA allocation," Harrigan said. "When the upcoming phase is complete, the $10,000 of grant monies will go directly into the Town’s CPA Fund."
