Stonehill Student Arrested for Bomb Threat, Allegedly Tried to Get Out of Exam

Benjamin DiBiase was arrested after police saw him on surveillance footage allegedly drawing a swastika in a bathroom.

A Stonehill College student has been arrested in connection to a bomb threat that led to a campus evacuation last month.

Benjamin DiBiase, 21, of Wellesley, was taken into police custody Thursday according to WFXT. He has been suspended from the college and has been ordered to stay away from the campus.

In September, a threatening message found in a bathroom located inside an administrative building led to a search and evacuation of the campus. No suspicious packages were found by police.

According to a police report obtained by the Enterprise, DiBiase was arrested by police after an officer discovered a swastika in a bathroom stall inside the Old Student Union Building. A review of surveillance video and student ID photos led police to DiBiase, who was seen on video remaining at the wall for several seconds and walking away with something that looked like a writing instrument.

After questioning, DiBiase admitted to drawing the swastika and causing the bomb threat. DiBiase told police that he has a fascination with school shootings. Additionally, he said he was not prepared for a calculus exam, so he caused the bomb threat in an attempt to get classes canceled.
