Having served on the 250th and 275th anniversary celebrations in 1975 and 2000, Williams, who introduced himself as the "town nag" said money is always an issue. He requested that his donation be put in a separate fund with the hopes that others will donate throughout the upcoming decade.

"While I’m certain that the town will have plenty of money to underwrite these expenses in the year 2025 in which we turn 300 years of age as a town," Williams said, "Just in case it is not, I am presenting this evening a check for $10,000 to establish a '300th Anniversary Celebration Trust Fund' for the Town of Easton in the hopes that over the next 13 years various good citizens and organizations will chip in and add to this fund to be certain that Easton retains its reputation as 'Massachusetts Best Kept Secret'"
