16-Foot Great White Shark Spotted Off Cape Cod

Researchers this week photographed a 16-foot great white shark near the Nauset inlet on Cape Cod.

It was one of the largest great whites spotted this summer.

Great whites can grow up to 25 feet or longer.

Earlier this month, shark warnings were posted after researchers tagged four great white sharks in the Chatham area.

Researchers said the sharks are swimming closer to shore than usual. There have been no shark attacks on humans so far this summer on the Cape. The last attack was in 2012 off the coast of Truro. The victim, a man, survived a bite to the leg.

Researchers this summer have captured incredible footage of shark attacks on seals—and even a humpback whale—off the Cape coast.
