Tai Ji Quan is an internal martial art consisting of a set of 64 movements. The form was originated and developed in the 2nd and 3rd centuries, B.C.E by ancient Chinese sages who based the form on the movements of birds and animals. Practiced slowly with total body relaxation and no force, it is primarily an exercise for health that increases strength, balance and coordination. Experienced practitioners of the art can use this form for self-defense.
