A PALER SHADE OF GREEN

The Wind Energy Revolution - Not Living Up To Promises?

Wind power has been all the rage in Massachusetts since the 2008 "Green Communities Act."  The 10+ year old Cape Wind project has been no exception.  Megan Amsler (former Falmouth Energy Committee Chairman) has jumped onto the off-shore wind energy “gravy train” with her recent sales pitch to the Massachusetts Wind Working Group (MWWG). (http://www.masscec.com/events/massachusetts-wind-working-group-meeting-and-panel-discussion).

In announcing her new partnership venture labeled "Ocean Readiness," she claimed to have deep concern for the safety and welfare of OFF-shore wind workers.  An admirable concern indeed.  Yet, one that seemingly separates from her 4 year position held while the town's Energy Committee Chairman and the safety and welfare of Falmouth residents in proximity to the LAND-based Town turbines.

Could it be her "past words and deeds" reveal a different truth than what she recently claimed to the MWWG?  Could it be that her actions speak louder than her words?

In totality, and the years of controversy, Cape Wind and Falmouth's on-shore Wind Energy Project, make one thing clear.  Both have met with costly resistance and costly court litigation, neither of which have an end in sight.  Which begs the question regarding industrial scaled wind energy projects (land & sea based)... “what shade of green” tilts profit (progress)?
