1. After being captured in Texas, man sentenced to prison for southeastern Massachusetts murder of Douglas Rose (fallriverreporter.com) — A man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in the 2022 stabbing death of Douglas Rose at 250 Davisville Road in East Falmouth, following a Falmouth Police and State Police investigation. Prosecutors detailed how a drug dispute led to the fatal attack, and the district attorney publicly thanked investigators, jurors, and the Falmouth community while expressing sympathy for Rose’s loved ones.
2. Cape Cod Fishing Report- April 23, 2026 (onthewater.com) — Shore anglers in Falmouth are finally finding tautog on the south-side jetties, while largemouth bass action has been excellent in local ponds and over in West Falmouth. The broader Cape report points to rising water temperatures, active trout and panfish in kettle ponds, and migratory stripers expected to reach upper Cape harbors and salt ponds within about a week.
3. SSA student art contest underway - The Martha's Vineyard Times (mvtimes.com) — Local students connected to Falmouth through the Steamship Authority can still submit artwork for the 2026 “Sail into Imagination” contest, with entries due May 29. Pieces may be mailed or dropped at the Palmer Avenue SSA terminal in Falmouth, and winners’ work will appear in the 2027 SSA calendar and on select ferries.
4. Barnstable Town Hall Artist Spotlight Ana Johnson – Moore Now through June 26, 2026 (barnstableenews.com) — A Cape-based neo‑surrealist painter with ties to Falmouth Art Center is being featured in Barnstable Town Hall’s Artist Spotlight exhibit, now through June 26, 2026. Her vividly colored, dreamlike works can be viewed in person in Hyannis or online, offering Falmouth residents an easy cultural outing or virtual art experience connected to a familiar local arts educator.
5. 1-in-50 million lobster with split-colored shell found in Massachusetts (9news.com) — A rare split-colored lobster caught off Cape Cod is headed for eventual public display at the Woods Hole Science Aquarium in Falmouth, though the facility is closed for renovations until 2027. For now, the lobster is being cared for in Woods Hole while scientists highlight how unusual this half-and-half coloring is and celebrate local efforts to protect ocean life.
