FALMOUTH, MA — Municipal building projects frequently go over budget, but in Falmouth, this one may come under.
The town has been planning a new police station at 100 Brick Kiln Road, and originally budgeted $65 million for construction and other costs.
Now it looks as if the tally will come in around $60 million, the Falmouth Enterprise reported Friday.
That total includes some remaining design work, but most represents the cost of constructing the new headquarters. Falmouth received two contractor bids on the work, and the highest came in at $59.2 million.
The town’s assistant manager, Peter Johnson-Staub, told the newspaper that the lower cost could reduce the tax impact for Falmouth residents.
