Artist Abby Lammers exhibits at Bank of Cape Cod

For Falmouth artist Abby Lammers, beauty lies in the simple and the ordinary.

“It is in the everyday scenes and objects you pass by on a daily basis,” explained Lammers, who launched her painting career in 1994 after a successful stint in the advertising industry as an art director.  “I want the viewer to reconsider everyday life through my presentation of common objects and scenes. I try to portray a unique vision of my objects, so that everyday life becomes a little less visible.”

Lammers will showcase her work in an exhibit titled “Shapes and Spaces” at Bank of Cape Cod’s Falmouth branch during the month of September. A reception for the exhibit will be on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 5-7 p.m. at the 445 Main St. branch. The public is invited to the reception and welcome to stop by the branch during business hours to view the exhibit.

“This exhibit is a mix of still life and landscape paintings, each simple and ordinary objects or scenes,” Lammers said.  “The work focuses on visual design concepts balancing compositional elements of spacial division, shapes, value and color relationships.”

 A native of Missouri, Lammers works as a full-time artist from her studios in East Falmouth and Rochester, NY. Her work has been featured in numerous group and solo shows at museums, galleries and cultural centers throughout the United States. She recently had three works accepted into the 2013 Small Matters of Great Importance Juried Exhibit at the Edward Hopper House Art Center, Nyack, NY by juror Susan Cross, Curator of MASS Museum of Contemporary Art. Her work was also accepted into The Copley Society of Art Fall Exhibit, The Sound of Color, which runs from Sept. 12-Oct. 31, 158 Newbury St., Boston.

 Her work was recognized in the 20th anniversary issue of American Artist’s Watercolors, as one of the top emerging watercolorists in the country. She has won more than 60 awards for her work.

 “It is such a privilege and honor for us to showcase Abby’s talent in our next exhibit,” said Mark Skala, director of marketing and community relations at Bank of Cape Cod. “Her work of simple things is, quite simply, stunning. We encourage our branch neighbors and Falmouth community to come by and see her work, which will also be available for purchase.”

 The exhibit is the latest featured at Bank of Cape Cod Falmouth, where a gallery hanging system was installed so the branch walls could showcase the talents of local artists and photographers. Exhibits have included work from the Upper Cape Camera Club, members of the Falmouth Artists Guild as well as solo shows. Following the Lammers exhibit, artist Sean J. Cassidy will feature his work depicting jazz musicians to coincide with the Falmouth Jazz Festival in October.
