Juror Art Vaughan has curated a collection of 50 photographs, from nearly 300 entries, for this year’s Juried Photography Exhibition. Join us at the opening reception to honor the exceptional talent on display. The subject matter varies widely, capturing moments in time for us to enjoy. "Still Life with Cat" by Athena Carey is this year's Best in Show. This stunning piece will be awarded alongside four Juror Awards during the evening's festivities.
The Opening Reception for this show is scheduled for Friday, May 8, from 5:00-7:00pm. This reception is also for two additional shows Celebrating Falmouth Ponds in the Landrau-Partan Gallery, and Views of the World: Paintings by Jim Weinberg in the Sigel Gallery.

The Gallery at FCTV

Artwork by Philip Dutra will be displayed at The Gallery at FCTV from May 4 through May 29. A reception with the artist will be held on Sunday, May 17th, from 3-5pm.
Raised on Cape Cod, Philip Dutra draws on a lifetime of coastal experience to create paintings that emphasize clarity, restraint, and the natural beauty of the sea. Before committing fully to art, he worked in the boating industry, an experience that deepened his understanding of water, movement, and light—elements that now define his work. His background in architectural engineering also informs his sense of structure and composition.
Dutra’s paintings reflect a lifelong connection to the shoreline. Having spent decades immersed in the coastal environment, he finds continual inspiration in its shifting colors and moods. His approach centers on simplifying complex scenes, allowing essential forms and atmosphere to emerge without excess detail.
For Dutra, art is both personal expression and a way to evoke shared memories. He aims to create work that resonates emotionally while maintaining technical discipline. When faced with creative challenges, he steps away, often turning to quiet reflection or movement to regain perspective.
He believes artistic growth comes from persistence, observation, and a willingness to learn through process. The coast remains both his subject and his refuge—a constant source of inspiration that continues to shape his work and vision.
The Gallery at FCTV is located within the Falmouth Community Media Center, which is at 310E Dillingham Ave., easily accessible by Rose Morin Lane. FCTV and Gallery Hours: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu: 10-8pm, Fri: 10am-6pm. Sat: Closed, Sun: 12-8pm.

On Tuesday, May 5th, from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM, during Falmouth Public Schools’ early release day, the Falmouth Public Library – Main Branch, Young Adult room will be hosting an open deck building workshop. Come in anytime and start building your own deck! Clint and other players of different levels will be there to help! Once you have your deck ready to go….It’s time to challenge your friends!

No registration required! The recommended age is 12+. We have a good amount of cards to work with but feel free to bring your own! First come, first serve. The choice of a floral or Pokemon design will be provided. You’ll have the opportunity to color and customize your design and then we’ll carefully fold and glue together the Kaleidocycles.
All materials will be provided. This is best suited for school age children that are comfortable using scissors independently.

Yoga with Chelsea, Wednesdays starting May 6, from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Chelsea’s class is gentle and appropriate for beginners. At the same time, almost everyone will find challenge in it, since we work with a range of skills: balance, strength, mobility, coordination, mental focus, and the skill of relaxing. Yoga is great at finding those neglected or hurting parts of our bodies and coaxing them into more freedom of movement, ease, and grace.
Classes include brief periods of quiet meditation, movement in and out of yoga poses, movement explorations influenced by various somatic traditions besides yoga, and there is always a period of quiet resting at the end of class, for a chance to enjoy all the benefits. After class, students tend to feel lighter, looser, and more clear-headed and connected.
Please bring a yoga mat if you have one. If you don’t, there will be several to borrow. Other props you might have, such as blocks, are helpful to bring as well.

Sea Stars Early Learning Center

Sea Stars Early Learning Center offers a balanced program that incorporates play-based learning, structured lessons, and physical activities. Children are encouraged to explore their interests, whether through music, art, science, or outdoor exploration. There’s a focus on developmental milestones, including fine motor skills, communication, and social interaction. The facility focuses on helping children develop strong social skills through group activities, games, and cooperative learning. There’s an emphasis on emotional intelligence, teaching kids how to manage their feelings and resolve conflicts peacefully. Our amazing helps kids learn to share, collaborate, and support one another, fostering a sense of community. The facility embraces children from all backgrounds and is sensitive to cultural differences, making sure all children feel accepted and valued. The facility features a large, secure outdoor play area with age-appropriate equipment. Children spend plenty of time outdoors, engaging in physical play and exploring nature. There may also be gardening activities. The building is designed with child safety in mind, featuring soft corners, non-toxic materials, and secure fencing around outdoor areas. Access points are monitored and locked to ensure only authorized individuals can enter. There’s a first aid kit and trained staff on hand at all times to handle any emergencies. The classrooms and play areas are spotless, with an abundance of natural light streaming in through large windows. The space is well-organized, with age-appropriate toys, books, and learning materials accessible to children. There’s a cozy reading nook, art stations, and sensory play areas where kids can explore their creativity. Our staff is certified in child development, first aid, and CPR, but they also have a genuine passion for working with children. Melissa Anderson and Leigh-Ellen Ferreira are two Falmouth natives who have spent many years working with children.
