Artwork by Ocean Eversley will be displayed at The Gallery at FCTV from Sunday, September 13th through Friday, October 30th. A gallery reception with the artist will be held on Sunday, September 13th, from 3-5pm.
Falmouth-based artist Ocean Eversley is a painter, poet, photographer, and retired clinical social worker whose multidisciplinary work explores identity, resilience, beauty, and belonging.
After decades as a Martha’s Vineyard business owner—including Summer Breeze Gift Store, Rising Sun Horse Ranch, Diana’s at the Winifred Restaurant, and Personal Best-One on One Training, Eversley turned her full-time attention to art in 2024 with the launch of Ocean Eversley Art Gallery, an online storefront featuring original paintings, photography, and functional art.
Drawing inspiration from her years on Falmouth and Martha’s Vineyard, Eversley’s paintings blend portraiture and coastal landscapes into dreamlike compositions. As an African American and Native American artist, she is particularly influenced by the diversity and creativity of BIPOC communities. Her work often centers women, celebrating their strength, vulnerability, individuality, and joy.
Eversley uses a tactile mixed-media process combining palette knives, pencils, brushes, acrylics, and oils. Layered colors and textures evoke the movement of tides and shifting coastal light while connecting the physical landscape to emotional experience.
Her photography, much of it created on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, captures ordinary, whimsical, and unexpected moments, inviting viewers to find beauty in everyday life.
Deeply engaged in her community, Eversley serves on Falmouth’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Advisory Committee and as DEI outreach coordinator for the Falmouth Cultural Council. Across painting, photography, and poetry, her creative practice invites viewers to pause, reflect, and discover new possibilities through beauty, place, and human connection.
