Cape Cod Community Raises Nearly $3K for Marine After Theft
A disabled Marine and his family visiting Cape Cod had their belongings stolen; local residents and businesses stepped up to help.
Yarmouth, MA — The Cape Cod community stepped up to raise nearly $3,000 for a disabled U.S. Marine and his family after their belongings were stolen at a Cape Cod water park.
Multiple residents and businesses raised nearly $3,000 for the family, according to police.
Police said a suspect stole a bag belonging to the man and his family while they were at the Cape Cod Inflatable Park last week. The bag contained a credit card and other valuables.

The Marine is a combat veteran and permanently disabled, according to police.
"In just a few short days, we raised nearly $3,000 dollars and made sure that they went back home to North Carolina with full stomachs, fuel in their truck, cash in their pockets, and a smile on their faces," police said in a statement.

Meanwhile, an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect, identified as Kevin Lima, 36, of Acushnet:
