Consul General of Guatemala to Visit Falmouth Students
Fourth graders in Falmouth elementary schools have been writing to students in Guatemala through the "Hands Across Borders" project.

The Consul General of Guatemala is visiting all four Falmouth elementary schools this month.
Consul General Patricia Lavagnino and Vice Consul Jorge Archila will be in Falmouth on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
They will address the fourth grade students that have been working with “sister” schools in Guatemala in a project titled “Hands Across Borders.”

Through this project, the students are writing to students in Guatemala to develop relationships between the students from different countries and to explore the culture, language and art of the country.
The Consul General will also make an appearance at a Falmouth Chamber of Commerce reception for the Town Manager and Selectmen from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Lavagnino will stop by the Rotary Club’s dinner at Atria Woodbriar that same night to be the guest of honor and the event speaker.
As Consul, Lavagnino assists members of the Guatemalan community living near Providence with their assimilation into America, according to Stonewash Magazine.
Falmouth Rotary Club and its International and Educational Focus organized the “Hands Across Borders” project.
