Drunken Cape Man Pulling Boat Nearly Hits Cop Head On: Police

Police said a boat belonging to John Ferguson, of Sandwich, fell off the trailer and dragged in the opposite lane of traffic.

SANDWICH, MA — A Cape Cod man was arrested Saturday after police said he nearly struck a cruiser head on while pulling a boat with his truck.

John Ferguson, 22, of Sandwich, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation and marked lane violations.

Sandwich police said the near crash happened around 1:30 a.m., on Service Road. The 19-foot boat, fell off the trailer and dragged in the opposite lane of traffic, police said. After avoiding a potential collision, the officer stopped Ferguson and arrested him.

Ferguson was scheduled to be arraigned in Falmouth District Court Tuesday.
