All About ASHUMET

During the Holiday Season our thoughts turn to, what else but  HOLLYFind all about Falmouth’s own Mass Audubon sanctuary, the Ashumet Holly Reservation in located in East Falmouth.  Home to one of the largest holly plantations in New England, the Ashumet Sanctuary has more than 65 types of hollies, including American, Asian and European specimens, as well as the rare Franklinia tree.  Ian Ives, director of the Upper and Mid-Cape Audubon Sanctuaries, will talk about the history of these admired trees and the fascinating natural history of this beautiful sanctuary at  at the Falmouth Public Library, 300 Main Street.   As a special holiday treat, attendees will receive sample cuttings from Ashumet to use for holiday decoration.
