Night Hunter: Great Horned Owl

The public is invited to the Falmouth Public Library for an extraordinary FREE event.  Ian Ives, Mass Audubon director for the Upper and Mid-Cape, will present a slide show all about the Great Horned Owl.  Why?  Back in July a great horned owl was discovered in one of Falmouth’s wastewater treatment tanks by plant operator Steven Devonis.  He called Falmouth animal control officer Angela Brandt, who brought the owl to Cape Wildlife Center in Barnstable.  The owl has recovered and is ready to be released back into the wild.  Following the Library program, audience members will be invited to drive to Ashumet Holly Reservation to witness the bird’s  release, facilitated by Dr. Roberto Aguilar who supervised the owl’s rehabilitation.  However, Dr. Aguilar cautions that inclement weather could force a change in the date.  For more information call the library at 508-457-2555, ext. 6, or email: info@falmouthpubliclibrary.org
