Emily specializes in photographing the hobby and sport of boat sailing, and from time to time is also able to shoot landscapes and events around Cape Cod and Southeastern Massachusetts. In addition to these passions she is drawn to projects which can be made into photographic stories. For the last four years she has been most interested in shooting traditional wooden sail boats.

Emily was a founding member of the Woods Hole Handworks and is affiliated with the Cataumet Arts Center, Gallery 333 and the Jan Collins Selman Gallery. She was an invited artist in Cape Cod’s annual arts month Women Creating in 1999 and was accepted by its jury in other years.

Ferguson will draw on her daily photographic journal of Buzzards Bay to illustrate the subject.

She'll cover things like how long to wait in hopes of getting better lighting conditions, what to do when the skies are just plain blue with no clouds, or plain white with light cloud cover. These are called "Bald Skies." Using the photographic compositional guidelines to create an acceptable photograph with the Rule Of Thirds, Leading Lines, Center Of Interest, The Decisive Moment and more.

Just after the first day of spring 2010, Emily started a year-long daily journal of the shoreline of Buzzards Bay. Selecting a different location each day, she set out to find an image reflective of the bay, coast and weather.

New members of all ages are welcome. Camera Club yearly dues are $30. Non member single meeting fee is $4 payable at the door. Please RSVP to 508-420-8854.
