FALMOUTH, MA — The owners of Bad Martha's Farmer's Brewery wants to expand their food options by opening a raw bar. Kevin Klauer, an attorney representing the brewery, met with the zoning board of appeals last week and told them the owners want to build a 15-by-10-foot shed with an attached porch to have a raw bar at the front of the building. There would also be an additional beer tap in the shed.

"After going through a couple months of business, the owners realized that some alterations and additions could enhance both the customer rand employee experience," Klauer said.

Klauer said the shed would be similar in design, style and color to the main building at 876 Falmouth Highway, which was built in a rustic barn with an attached silo. He also said the raw bar would be more than 100 feet away from Route 28. Because the proposed shed is in front of building facing Route 28, it will require a special permit, as well as approval from the planning board and zoning board of appeals.

One resident said she was worried about the proposal because headlights from cars in the parking lot already shine directly into her home. Klauer said the owners have plans to plant more vegetation near the front of the parking lot.

Planning board members will hear the proposal Tuesday. If approved, it will go back to the zoning board for a vote.
