Falmouth 'Good Samaritan' Stole Cash From Wallet He Turned In: PD

A wallet turned in to police Thursday had over $250 missing that should have been there.

FALMOUTH, MA – A "Good Samaritan" was charged with stealing money from a wallet he turned in to police Thursday, according to the Falmouth Police Department. The man went to the police station around 7:40 p.m. and told officers he found the wallet near TJ Maxx.

Police contacted the owner, who told them she had mistakenly left it at Walmart and there should be $260 cash inside.

Security footage showed the man had taken the wallet from Walmart, police said. He confessed to stealing the $260 in cash, according to police.

The man will be summonsed to court for larceny.
