A 63-year-old man had to be taken to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a Falmouth house fire.

FALMOUTH, MA — Seven people were displaced, and a man in his 60s was hospitalized following a Falmouth house fire Sunday.

According to fire officials, a neighbor called 911 around 3:15 p.m., to report the fire at a home in the 500th block of Waqquoit Highway. Minutes later, firefighters arrived and found flames and heavy smoke coming from the basement and into the house's first floor.

Fire officials said two residents got out of the house without the help of firefighters. But one of the two, a 63-year-old man, was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries. Fire officials said the injuries were not life-threatening.
