Falmouth Man Charged With Assaulting A Police Officer
Police said Elias Liatsis tried to strike a Falmouth police officer with his car.
FALMOUTH, MA — A North Falmouth man was arrested Sunday after police said he tried to strike a Falmouth police officer with his car.
Elias Liatsis, 73, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, trespassing, failure to stop for a police officer and resisting arrest.
Around 4:45 p.m., an officer assigned to Old Silver Beach told dispatch Liatsis was in the beach parking lot violating a no trespass order from the town. Police said Liatsis then tried to run over the officer with his car and nearly dragged him.

"Once the car stopped, he punched the officer and resisted arrest," according to the police report.
During the struggle, Liatsis suffered an abrasion to his wrist, and the officer suffered a minor injury to his hand. Liatsis was taken to the hospital and was later released to police custody. The officer did not need any medical treatment.

Police said they have also sought an immediate threat driver's license suspension.
