Falmouth Man Charged With Drunken Driving After Crash

Falmouth police said Nicholas Tew, 23, was drunkenly driving with his headlights off when he struck a car leaving a gas station.

FALMOUTH, MA — A Falmouth man was arrested after police said he drunkenly crashed his car into another vehicle and caused one of the cars to strike a utility pole. Nicholas Tew, 23, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a lights violations.

The crash happened at 6:11 p.m. Monday in front of the Sav-on gas station on Main Street. According to police, Tew was driving with his headlights off and struck a car coming out of the gas station's parking lot. Both drivers refused medical attention.

Police said one of the cars hit a utility pole. The pole cracked at about 10 feet off the ground and leaned onto the road.

Main Street was closed near the gas station and traffic was detoured. Both cars were towed from the scene.
